Nyikani Migration Camp Kogatende
Nyikani migration camps, located in the Serengeti ecosystem, shift twice a year to ensure that their guests are perfectly positioned to watch the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra. From December to March, the migration moves in and out of the Ndutu area. Ndutu is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, just south of Serengeti National Park. The Nyikani migration camp is conveniently located near the Ndutu and Masek lakes, which provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. In addition to the nearly two million wildebeest and zebra that migrate through the area each year, Ndutu is home to cheetah, lion, giraffe, and hundreds of bird species. During the February calving season, wildebeest give birth to 8,000 babies every day. From late May until October, the Camp is located in the Northern Serengeti near the Mara River, providing convenient access to various river crossing spots in the vicinity. During this time of year, wildebeest migrate back and forth over the Mara River from Tanzania to Kenya. River crossings are common, with crocodiles, hippos, and huge cats distributed throughout the area.
The camp has 12 tents in total that are available in twin, triple or family configuration, each with a private shaded verandah overlooking the Serengeti ecosystem. Each tent is outfitted with an Ensuite that includes a flush toilet, double basins with running water and a safari-style bucket shower. Guests can enjoy welcoming drinks upon arrival at the camp and be able to experience the gourmet Swahili cuisine that is on offer. Private dining, a private sundowner, bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners can also be arranged on special request.
