Tembo Plains Camp
Tembo Plains Camp is the latest addition to Great Plains Réserve Collection of camps. The camp embodies luxury, and honours elephants, even in its namesake. Decor with hints of elephants can be found scattered throughout, celebrating the abundant populations found on the reserve.
The camp enjoys an idyllic location in a thick riverine forest on the edge of the mighty Zambezi River just east of Mana Pools National Park. Encompassing 118,000 hectares of pristine landscape in the Sapi Private Reserve. The build of the camp references the iconic Zimbabwe Ruins by building with rugged stone, but also combines the style of a true canvas explorer camp. From wine cellars to spa treatment rooms, and ultra-luxurious suites; Tembo Plains Camp is one of the finest camps in Zimbabwe.

Tembo plains is teeming with big game, in particular African wild dogs, lions, leopards, and elephants. Huge breeding herds of elephant can often be spotted frolicking in the waters around camp, while hundreds of buffalo come to the water’s edge to drink. While it’s entirely possible to spot game from the viewing decks in each room, joining the available activities is always worthwhile. Daily game drives across the Zambezi floodplains will open guests eyes to the wonder of one of the top safari regions in southern Africa. Game drives take place in an open 4x4 game viewer. When the water levels are high, visitors can enjoy a thrilling water safari experience in a canoe or on a boat. Birds such as the carmine bee-eater, lesser flamingo, and Pel’s fishing-owl are just a few of the species to spot while out birding.
