Mbali Mbali Gombe Game Viewing and Activities
The camp is set in the Gombe Stream National Park, where chimpanzees are abundant and the primary attraction is chimpanzee trekking, which is entirely unique to this area. Gombe was created to protect its thousands of chimpanzees and is set in the stunning Mahale Mountains of Tanzania. The habitat consists of steep narrow valleys, rain forest, grasslands, alpine bamboo and woodland. Wildlife includes chimpanzees, red Colobus and black and white Colobus, red-tail and blue monkeys, yellow baboon, Sykes monkeys, savannah monkeys, bushbuck, bushpig and grey duiker. Birdlife is superb, boasting pied and giant kingfishers, the crowned eagle, the African broadbill, Ross's turaco and the trumpeter hornbill. Spending time at Gombe Tented Lodge is a sumptuous affair with all the incredible food available. Meal times are a festival of taste, with dinners revolving mostly around the fresh catch of the day; the specialty being Sangara, Kuhe, Mgebuka and Dagaa fish. Guests are also served traditional African dishes such as Coconut Banana Meat Stew and Cassava chips.
