Gombe Forest Lodge Game Viewing and Activities
The chimpanzees are the main attraction at Gombe Stream. These remarkable mammals are habituated to human visitors, making observing them in the wild an entirely unique experience. Primates are the main attraction at Gombe Stream; in addition to the famous chimpanzees, guests may see olive baboons, which are fairly habituated too, while red-tailed and red Colobus monkeys stick to the forest canopy. Leopard and bushbuck are also residents in the dense forest, along with fish eagles and Palm-nut vultures, which are often seen flying overhead. Gombe Stream is the perfect place for a walking safari, allowing guests to cool off along the way with a dip in one of the many streams that criss-cross the park. Spend the morning Chimpanzee trekking, and decide how to relax in the afternoons, be it swimming in the crystal clear waters of the lake, snorkelling or simply relaxing on the beach. There are two spectacular waterfalls in the area: Kakombe, an easy half hour walk and Mkenke, a little further for the more adventurous.
