Burunge Camp Game Viewing and Activities
Tarangire is one of the hidden gems of the Tanzania safari circuit, with spectacular wildlife but relatively little development, ensuring a unique wilderness experience. The area can be explored on game drives, walks along the lakes edge, canoeing on the lake and cultural interaction with the Maasai who live in the area. The Tarangire River empties into Lake Burunge, a shallow soda lake just adjacent to the park's western boundary. Lake Burunge is home to flocks of flamingos from July to November. The lake is picturesque with the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment as a background. The lake is very saline but during the rains the water is fresh and serves as a watering place for animals, including elephants and lions. Fantastic activities on offer for guests at Burunge Camp; such as, canoeing on Lake Burunge; nature walks on the lake shores; game drives into Tarangire National Park; Maasai guided walking safaris; and cultural interaction on a visit a Mbuwge Village.
