Vuma Hills Highlights
Mikumi National Park is the closest National Park to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. As part of the Selous ecosystem, it benefits from the highest game density in the entire conservation area. Vuma Hills is a luxurious permanent tented camp, perched above the trees stretching over the seemingly endless wilderness south west of Mikumi National Park. The best time to visit is in the dry months between June and February. Vuma Hills Tented Camp remains open all year round but access to some areas of the park may be limited during March to June, due to the rains. Birdlife during this time of year is magnificent and compensates for the scarcer viewings of game animals.

Vuma Hills Game Viewing and Activities
Mikumi National Park is a prime game viewing area. The Mkata plain supports vast herds of plains game such as wildebeest, impala, zebra and giraffe, hunted by their associated predators; whilst finding greater kudu, ran and sable antelope in the surrounding less fertile hills. Although game sightings can never be guaranteed, there are lots of sightings of the African wild dog hunting the plains in packs. The guides at Vuma Hills are some of the best and have extensive local knowledge. This ensures that guests get the most from Mikumi and its magnificent surroundings. All game drives around the park are in open 4 wheel drive vehicles. They are led by trained experienced English speaking guides. If a break from the bush is required, guests can take a dip in the pool that has outstanding views over the floodplain.
