Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge was built and operated by Governors Camp Collection, however, is Rwanda's first community owned luxury safari lodge. Gorilla Trekking is the main activity at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge. The lodge is located mere minutes away from the headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park, which is where visitors hike to see the magnificent Mountain Gorilla in its natural environment. The position of the lodge, at the foothills of the mighty Virungas, affords breath-taking views of the majestic chain of 15,000 ft. volcanoes stretching through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The main activity is gorilla tracking, supported by golden monkey tracking, both close at hand. At Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, there are specialised massage treatments on offer, designed to relax refresh and rejuvenate skin and muscles after a hike to see the gorillas. From the lodge, there are escorted bird watching walks, nature walks and mountain biking excursions available. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is located on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park and is a 15 minute drive from the park's headquarters, where all activities in the Volcanoes National Park start from.
