Borana Lodge
Borana Lodge is nestled against a lovely hillside with an organic style and panoramic views in the midst of Borana Conservancy, Kenya's newest and most successful rhino sanctuary. The Lodge was founded in 1993 as one of East Africa's first modest eco-lodges. Since then, it has been the primary economic force that has allowed the Borana Conservancy to protect critical habitat for endangered species.
Borana Lodge has four separate cottages with spectacular views. Each of these cottages are unique, designed with the hillside in mind while also paying attention to the finer aspects that allow for great comfort. Two more cottages are ideal for families; a living room is shared by a double and a twin, so parents can relax knowing their children are safe in the room next door.There are then a further four rooms with huge double beds and four with queen-size twin beds. Each cottage is made of rock and cedar and has a thatched roof.They all have open fireplaces, which are lit each evening and are accompanied by a basket of ethically sourced firewood, as well as verandas with breath-taking views.The bathrooms are big and feature both baths and showers with views of Africa's wilderness. A horizon pool overlooking the Hyena Valley Dam may be found further up the ridge line, allowing for poolside game viewing and the lunch pavilion is located above the pool house and offers stunning views of the entire conservancy.
