Gunn's Camp Introduction
Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Gunn's Camp is one of the last few remaining, luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn's Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness. On arrival at the private airstrip on Ntswi Island, deep in the delta, you will be met by welcoming hosts and shown to Gunn's Camp.
- The camp runs off a massive solar-panel, which feeds power to the entire camp.
- Explore the crystal clear channels of the Boro River on motor-boat cruises that are organised at sunset.
- Experience the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your own personal guide.
Gunn's Camp Game Viewing and Activities
The Okavango Delta is one of the world 's greatest deltas and the largest delta to run away from the ocean and into the heart of a continent. It is home to an unequalled prosperity and diversity of African wildlife and, with over 450 bird species, is one of the most beautiful places in Africa. At Gunn's Camp activities focus on the Delta: the habitat, its inhabitants and how this part of Africa differs from anywhere else. Experience the magic of this most precious of resources on mokoro excursions, guided walks and sunset motor boat excursions. Although big game may be seen it 's the opportunity to get closer to smaller creatures whilst gliding silently down the Boro Channel and between the palm islands in a mokoro that is so very special. Whilst out on nature walks your guide will point out plants and roots which are utilized by local communities in a number of ways: for food, medicines and fish traps. The low key pace of these activities and the lack of a formalized vehicle structure is the perfect way to experience true wilderness first-hand - a rare commodity in this day and age.
