Tawana
Natural Selection's brand-new camp, Tawana, will provide an unparalleled exploration of the Okavango Delta and the larger wilderness ecosystem of northern Botswana. It is situated amidst the beautiful landscapes of Botswana's famous Moremi Game Reserve. Tawana, which is scheduled to open in May 2024, has been designed to merge the romance of a modern safari camp with spectacular safari experiences. It will stand in harmony with the beautiful forests and grasslands that line the banks of the perennial Gomoti river.
Tawana will debut with 8 large suites, two of which are family rooms. The suites are about 100 square metres in size (130 square metres for family units) and feature a private terrace with a refreshing plunge pool as well as a separate lounge area. The outdoor sala is a tranquil place to unwind in between excursions. The natural hues and textures of the landscape, as well as the cultural traditions of the nearby Batawana tribe, served as the aesthetic inspiration for the development of a chic and modern safari destination with a distinct sense of place. The Gomoti River and the game-rich floodplains are perfectly visible from each apartment, which has been strategically designed to provide complete solitude. The apartments are located in the deep shade of the lush riverine forest, beneath the boughs of stately ebony and sausage trees, creating a cool haven of peace to retreat to in between activities. While the shelves of the well maintained lodge library are stocked with reference volumes on the history of the Moremi Game Reserve and the nearby Batawana tribe, the camp's spacious social areas include an attractive lounge and indoor and outdoor dining places. A wood-fired pizza oven, an open-air dining kgotla, and a walk-in wine cellar are just a few of the culinary experiences that will become synonymous with the Tawana experience.
- Opening May 2024
- 8 large suites
- Beautiful riverside location
- An unforgettable experience
Even though there is a lot of wildlife all year long, the dry months of July to October are the best time to see wildlife since animals are lured to perennial water sources when grassland waterholes dry up. The Okavango Delta's yearly floodwaters are at their highest between June and September. Expect amazing animal views at Tawana, where the Gomoti River flows in front of the camp. Twice-daily game drives leave in the early morning and late afternoon to go through the Moremi Game Reserve's stunning terrain, which is a verdant patchwork of shimmering lakes, shallow pans, mopane woods, and grassy floodplains. Expect to see spectacular antelope, predators, birds, and large herbivore sightings. Your knowledgeable guides will also point out the Delta's less well-known inhabitants. For down-time between activities, Tawana features a private spa offering a customised menu of facial and body treatments, as well as holistic wellness excursions. Guests can stay in shape while travelling thanks to the well-stocked gym and 16-meter lap pool. The outside lounge area surrounding the fire pit provides a space for socialising with other visitors or taking in the breath-taking wildness beyond while gazing up at the skies.
