Sky Beds
Skybeds is a dream come true for the adventuring, nature-loving, star-gazing Botswana travellers. A 3-bed camp in Khwai Private Reserve offers the ultimate outdoor sleeping experience with creature comforts and excellent game viewing.
Sky Beds Introduction
Booked in conjunction with sister camps Sable Alley or Hyena Pan, Skybeds brings a wholly new element to this Khwai safari experience. Imagine sleeping on an open platform raised five metres from the ground and overlooking a waterhole that is the only permanent source of water for miles around. This is what the Skybeds offering is all about: primitive, yet comfortable, thrilling yet safe, romantic yet adventurous. The 2-storey units have an open-air bedroom on the top floor with an enclosed bathroom and changing area on the second floor to provide necessary privacy without taking away from the raw and unadulterated idea of sleeping out in the open.
- Skybeds is a sister camp to Hyena Pan and Sable Alley, also located in the Khwai Private Reserve, and it is only available when booked in conjunction with one of these two camps.
- Open all year round and is equipped to cover guests and furniture in the instance of rainfall during the summer months.
- There are only 3 sleeping platforms, each individually located with a view of the waterhole below, which are perfect for couples or for a group booking the camp out exclusively
- Comfortable beds are well dressed to handle colder nights and bathrooms have flushing toilets and hot showers behind canvas walls.
Sky Beds Game Viewing and Activities
The waterhole in the centre of camp is busy during both dry and wet season, bringing excitement to guests sleeping only metres away. The Khwai Private Reserve is nestled between Chobe and Moremi, which are two of Botswana’s most prestigious safari attractions because of wildlife density. Lion, wild dog, elephant, hyena, leopard, eland, sable, giraffe, zebra, and plenty more are spotted regularly at the pan in front of Skybeds, while evening and morning game drives take guests out on safari to explore the concession as well as the famous Khwai River. There is a ground-level hide built only 10m from the waterhole, which one can imagine, yields some fantastic photo opportunities. Walking safaris are also conducted from Skybeds to provide a more in-depth exploration of the natural area and all that reside within it, and it goes without saying that sundowners and sunrises from up top are the perfect bookends to a night spent star gazing.
