Karen Blixen Coffee Garden
Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages is located in the centre of Karen among magnificent gardens and a calm suburb around 20 kilometres from downtown Nairobi, Kenya. It is located on Karen Road, about half a mile from the Karen Golf and Country Club and is the site of the original farmhouse that was part of the Blixen estate.
At Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens there is a variety of cottages as the options for accommodation. There are 3 standard cottages each featuring a sitting area around a fireplace. The standard cottages are excellent for singles, couples, or groups of friends, however they do not have room for a third bed, only a baby cot. There are three family cottages, each with two en-suite bedrooms and a communal living room. The family cottages are great for groups of friends or families travelling together. Following recent renovations, guests can now expect a more enjoyable stay. Each cottage has a new roof and bathroom. The bathroom's skylights fill it with light, giving the impression that it is part of an outside space. The restrooms contain two vanities, a bench, and large shower cubicles large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. The oak flooring and lofty ceilings were sanded to their natural colour, creating a cosy atmosphere and all of the furniture and soft furnishings are fresh and in neutral colours, creating a sense of warmth and peace. Every room now has a coffee station, satellite TV, phone, WiFi, safe, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, fireplace and a small bar. There is also one honeymoon suite available. This suite offers a large bedroom, a spacious lounge for two people, and two fireplaces. Except for the honeymoon suite, all rooms have the option of being converted into twins.
