Days 1 to 4 - Chelinda Lodge , Nyika National Park
Upon arrival at Lilongwe airport, guests will connect with a short light air transfer that will take them to the Nyika National Park. A road transfer will take guests to their stunningly-placed accommodation at Chelinda Lodge. It offers 8 luxurious double storey timber cabins with magnificent views and private verandas. The first floor has an open plan bedroom with queen sized bed and fireplace set in a cosy lounge. Here is where guests will spend 3 nights enjoying the ambient environment of Nyika National Park.
Whilst not enjoying the superb sights and the tranquil environment provided at the lodge, guests can embark on a variety of wildlife-viewing activities, that include horse-riding, game dirves and walks, fly-fishing and mountain biking. Species found in the park includes eland, roan, other antelope, zebra, warthog, and hyena, leopard, and jackal and serval cats.
Days 4 to 7 - Nkwichi Lodge , Lake Malawi, Mozambique
On the 4th morning, guests are prepared to enter Mozambique via boat. From Nyika airstrip, guests take a short light air charter to Likoma Island on Lake Malawi. From here, take a 35 min boat cruise to the Mozambique shoreline and enjoy a drive up the uninhabited coastline to Nkwichi Lodge. Nkwichi Lodge is located on the eastern lake shore, with beautifully- thatched individual chalets hidden just within the tree-line, making this a truly natural paradise, blending smoothly into the surroundings. It has been carefully designed to provide comfort and privacy for guests. With a maximum of only 14 people staying at Nkwichi, the lodge can offer guests the highest levels of service in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.
Lake Malawi - or Lake Niassa, as it is known in Mozambique - is the world's 9th largest lake and contains a greater variety of indigenous fish species of than any other lake in the world. The Lodge offers a wide range of activities, such as canoeing on the lake or local rivers, guided bush walks and wildlife-viewing treks, snorkelling, kite flying, surfing and visits to local community projects.
Day 11 - Depart back to Lilongwe Airport
After a superb beach and bush adventure in and around the 'Lake of Stars', guests will cruise back to Likoma Island where they will connect with a 1 hour flight to Lilongwe airport. From here, guests will catch their flights back to South Africa in time for onward travel arrangements.
