The flood plains, where game abounds, produce incredible ecological diversity as the area comprises open vlei, the seasonal Ruckomechi River system and mixed woodland types from mopane to Jesse bushes and riverine forests. Kanga Camp is situated in a private concession inland from the Zambezi River en-route to Chitake Springs. Kanga Pan is the only known source of water in the vicinity of the camp that is available year round making it a magnet for wildlife. Predators including lion, wild dog and leopard are often sighted and large concentrations of buffalo can be found in the mopane woodland. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck graze on the surrounding plains and elephant take advantage of the plentiful 'abide' trees in the area. Another attraction is the prolific bird life.
