Hwange National Park is famous for its large concentrations of elephant and buffalo. Other wildlife in the park includes lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena as well as general plains game; roan and sable are regularly seen in the woodlands. The birdlife is fantastic with over 400 species recorded. During the summer months, after the first rains, the plains game migrate to the area to give birth to their young, eland, zebra, giraffe and wildebeest arrive in large concentrations as there are plenty of green grasses and shrubs. This in turn offers great game viewing as the predators are followed soon after. Game drives are offered in open 4x4 vehicles as well as nature walks accompanied by expert guides. Viewing game close up at a waterhole from one of the area's many hides is another highlight at Linkwasha Camp.
