Lemala Ngorongoro is at an advantage over any other accommodation in this area in that it has quick and easy access into the crater, maximising game viewing opportunities. Game drives from the camp may start as early as 6.15am and it only takes 15 minutes to descend onto the crater floor, which allows for enhanced game-viewing opportunities. Lemala Ngorongoro Game Viewing and Activities
A population of about 25,000 large animals, including the highest density of mammalian predators in Africa, lives in the crater. These include black rhinoceros, hippopotamus which are usually very uncommon in the area. There are also wildebeest, zebra, eland, Grants and Thomsons gazelles. The crater has the densest known population of lion. On the Crater rim are leopard, elephant, mountain reedbuck and buffalo.
Lemala is in close proximity to Ol Moti and Empakai craters, which offer beautiful landscapes and scenery. Walks from the camp into the forest and along the crater rim together with an armed ranger and the Masai guide gives guests spectacular panoramic views of the crater and an insight into the forest dwelling animals. Lemala camps also offer private hot lunches inside the crater or breakfast with the Masai on request.
