Simbavati Camp George
The contemporary yet homely Simbavati Camp George is situated in the lesser-known Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. A significant escarpment and meandering river fringe the perimeter of the camp.
Riverbeds are a favourite place for leopards to den their cubs, which means there's plenty of scope for guests to spot cats from the comfort of their private deck. Simbavati Camp George has 8 ultra luxurious suites, each kitted out with a private viewing deck overlooking the Klaserie’s varied terrain. A beautiful garden with a swimming pool and well-built boma provide a few delightful spaces to relax. Guests can sit in the boma and watch wildlife filter down to the waterhole while enjoying a quintessential gin and tonic, the safari drink of choice.

Simbavati Camp George’s claim to fame is its stellar views from the suites. The dry riverbed in front of the suites is a major drawcard for elephants, buffalo and big cats. It’s not uncommon to spot eagle-eyed predators patrolling the sandy riverbed at night. The Klaserie is famous for its lion pride dynamics, and passionate guides ensure daily game drives depart during the big cats’ most active times of day. Both night drives and bush walks are available, and offer guests an unusual and immersive safari experience. There are over 40 species of mammal within the reserve, and over 360 recorded species of bird. Wild dogs, although nomadic, are known to settle in this sector of the Klaserie during their sedentary denning period. Birding is brilliant in the Klaserie - the most commonly spotted species include the purple breasted roller, oxpeckers, kingfishers, herons, and the Martial eagle.
