Chacma Bush Camp
Chacma Bush Camp is an intimate, family-friendly camp located in the lesser known Greater Kruger reserve: Maseke. A retreat offering stone chalets and 8000 ha of wilderness in the Balule, scenic view points, and a waterhole in front of camp.
Chacma Bush Camp Highlights
Chacma is the name of the southern African baboon subspecies commonly seen in the area, and is a charming name for this casual, unpretentious escape in the Balule Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger. The camp has 8000 hectares of traverse, shared with very few other lodges, which makes the safari experience private and unhurried. A small waterhole in front of the camp, overlooked by the swimming pool and dining area attracts huge numbers of elephant and buffalo, among other species roaming this untamed reserve. There are only 3 chalets – each named after a small antelope seen on Maseke – accommodating 10 people at the most.

Chacma Game Viewing and Activities
The Maseke Game Reserve shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to filter in and offer game viewing as good as the Kruger, but without the public access. There are 8000 hectares of private traverse, decorated with unique rocky outcrops, plenty of drainage lines, and magnificent view points.
Chacma Bush Camp game viewing starts at home with the ever-popular waterhole located right in front of camp, while game drives take place twice a day to explore the surroundings. Lion prides are prominent, as are elephants and buffalo, while Olifants River frontage brings hippo, crocodile, waterbuck and bird sightings to the forefront.
Special activities, such as bush breakfasts and dinners, sundowner sessions, and bush walks on the koppie add even more value to the game viewing experience. Chacma is also related to the Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails camp, which is a mobile walking and camping experience in the Maseke Reserve.
