Etosha Mountain Lodge
Etosha Mountain Lodge is aptly named to describe its position up on the slope of a dolomite hill, overlooking the private Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the southwestern border of the famous national park. This one’s got the views!
Etosha Mountain Lodge Highlights
This thatch, timber, and stone safari lodge was given new life in 2018 when it came under new management, and it has been given a new lease on life. The undeniable focus feature of Etosha Mountain Lodge is the view it enjoys from every angle. The private Etosha Heights Reserve rolls out in the form of plains and hills, grey and dusty in the dry months, and green and vibrant after the summer rain, and the seven thatched chalets are positioned to take full advantage of the panoramic views. The heart of the lodge is at its circular, elevated lounge, dining, and bar area which is under thatch and surrounded by a 360-degree balcony.
- Each of the seven rooms (six standard, one family unit) are tiled with wooden and stone finishes, with ensuite bathrooms complete with indoor showers and bath tubs.
- There is a sociable boma area, which brings people together under the stars around a fire, and there is a swimming pool set into a raised wooden deck for poolside wildlife-watching.
- Children of all ages are welcome, there is WiFi available in the main area, complimentary laundry service, a wine cellar, and a curio shop.
- This is the perfect place to enjoy Etosha’s wildlife exclusively, away from the crowds of the national park.
Etosha Mountain Lodge Game Viewing and Activities
Etosha Heights Private Game Reserve borders the south western boundary of Etosha National Park and enjoys all the magnificent wildlife of the area without the presence of other people. The safari experience at Etosha Mountain Lodge is entirely private in a vast area of 600 square kilometres. Morning and afternoon game drives are punctuated with scenic sundowner and coffee stops, and bush dinners and picnics can be arranged so that guests can linger longer and enjoy a delicious meal in the wilderness. Night drives are exceptional, especially given the chance to see Namibia’s carnivorous nocturnal creatures, like porcupine, aardvark, honey badger, leopard, and lion. Perhaps the most incredible safari experience at Etosha Mountain Lodge is the tracking of wild rhinos. These endangered herbivores live safely here and leave their unmistakable tracks in the dust, which guests can follow, led by a guide.
