Protected from the south wind and in a calm and gentle bay, it's a home away form home. Norman Carr Cottage has a motorised lodge boat 'Alfie' which is fully equipped with snorkelling gear. This unique lodge nestles under a canopy of large indigenous trees and lush fauna and flora. Renowned cuisine, home-cooked meals are on offer to be enjoyed in the open beach dining area, overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Malawi.
- All rooms have uniquely designed ensuite bathrooms and luxuriously grand double beds.
- Guests can enjoy boat trips, visits to local villages, watersports or simply relax by the lake shore.
- In the evening the cottage arranges a sundowner cruise; the ideal way to relax before dinner at the small beachside restaurant.
Norman Carr Cottage Activities
The southern lake is known for its abundance of brightly coloured cichlid fish, which is just one species of the over 600 hundred species of fish found in Lake Malawi. Every morning the lodge boat, 'Alfie', can take you to a nearby point for snorkelling and swimming in the rock pools and feeding Malawi's National Bird, The Fish Eagle. In the evenings guests can take the boat to have a drink while watching the sunset over Lake Malawi - the perfect end to a day spent on the lake shore. This trip often turns into a star gazing trip or a moon rising trip, and often the group will sit on pool noodles in the lake and enjoy a glass of wine in this unique fashion. Other activities include paddling, wind surfing, skiing and sailing.
