Basecamp Masai Mara Game Viewing and Activities
The Masai Mara in Kenya is the most famous of Africa's reserves. Large numbers or gazelle, wildebeest and zebra graze are preyed on by the predatory cheetah and leopard. The black- maned Mara lion remains the star of the show. Herds of elephant, buffalo, kongoni, topi, waterbuck and primates can also be found on the wide green gold savannahs of the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to the northern end of the wildebeest migration; wildebeest, zebra and antelope sweep in from Tanzania's Serengeti. Following in the wake are large predators who pick off the weak, young and stragglers. The migration mass along the Mara River, shoving and pushing just waiting for the first animal to cross so they can complete the final leg of their journey while crocodiles lie in wait for their best meal of the year. Long after the migration has passed, the plains are still home to an abundant of wildlife.
