Accommodation is in expansive Meru-style canvas tents, each with their own private viewing platforms. A perfect hideaway to fall asleep to the sound of the river. Days are spent on boat safaris exploring the meandering waters of the river in search of crocodile, hippo, buffalo, lion, and elephant. Each of the Meru-style tents has its own wooden viewing deck overlooking the Chobe River. Situated on the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers, Ichingo is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the abundant game viewing opportunities. African skimmers, saddle-billed storks, African fish eagles, kingfishers, and carmine bee-eaters adorn the banks and the trees of the island. Elephants, crocodiles and hippo fill the deep waters, and provide plenty of entertainment for guests out on boat safari.
Sunset game cruises on the Chobe River and boat safaris on the Zambezi provide the perfect moments to observe big game. On the island, there is a 2000 year old baobab tree, which is a mere 6 kilometres from the lodge. Guests can take a bush walk to the tree, and enjoy game viewing en route. Mokoro trips and fly-fishing are two alternate activities available - avid fishermen can cast their line out for both tiger and bream fish. Guests are encouraged to visit the local Subiya village to experience the cultural side of this region in Namibia.
